Nordzucker AG, Cristal Union (Paris) and ED&F Man (London) will combine their EU sugar activities into the Eurosugar joint venture. Bundeskartellamt gave its consent to the joint venture on 25 May 2007.
This makes Eurosugar an important player on the European sugar trading market. The newly established company will sell around 2 million tonnes of sugar and provide European clients with reliable quality products and services. With its international logistics and distribution experience, Eurosugar will also play an active role in marketing ACP and LDC sugars.
This forward looking move by the three partners is a direct response to the changes initiated by the new European Sugar Regime.
Eurosugar’s headquarters will be in Paris. Nordzucker, Cristal Union and ED&F Man are equal partners and each hold one third of the shares in the company. Local offices guarantee close contact with the clients. Eurosugar will commence its operations on 1s October 2007. |
